Laine, Mathew and I often went hiking up and down San Bruno Mountain, part of San Bruno Mountain State Park.  We would pack lunch, typically from the Plantation Cafe in Menlo Park, and eat either at the bench in this picture, or at the top near the radio towers.  Almost every time, we would order from Sue, the owner and manager of Plantation Cafe, their turkey/bacon/ham club sandwich on sourdough with everything but the mustard.  And we would get a pickle on the side, and chips.  Laine would eat a quarter (or an eighth) of this sandwich, I would eat a quarter (or 3/8th), and Mathew half.   Sometimes Laine would put some of the lettuce, tomato and meats between two chips and make her own “chip sandwich”, as she called it.  We often packed water for Mathew and me, and a milk for Laine.  In this picture, Laine and Mathew are enjoying the view of San Francisco and the Bay.  Laine turns to see what I am up to.
